Much of Alaska's Interior region was significantly colder than normal this October with monthly temperature departures greater than 8 degrees Fahrenheit.

• Summer 2008 Climate Summary
Most of Alaska experienced a cooler than normal summer this year, thanks in part to cloudy skies that prevented warm daytime highs. Precipitation conditions varied by location with dry conditions in the west and some heavy rainfall amounts for the eastern Interior and southeast panhandle.
